BC International – Product Developer (Full Time)
Nottingham, July 2008 – September 2009, September 2010 – Present
Began as an assistant but quickly gained responsibility and became solely responsible for the Product Development in the Playboy Ladieswear Department until it’s re-structure in September 2009.
Currently working as a Product Developer, developing licensed casual jersey, nightwear, underwear and socks for Mens, Ladies and Childrenwear, with customers including River Island and Topshop.
Roles and experience include approving lab dips, bulk fabric, print strike-offs; fitting garments in-house and at customer fit sessions; amending and creating graded garment specifications; and providing clear feedback and instructions to the manufacturer. Skilled in pattern cutting, with a flair for producing technical drawings by hand and using computer software.
Regular and confident communication with customers and overseas factories via telephone and email; making full use of excellent written and verbal communication skills. Gained experience visiting factories in China to perform final and in-line quality inspections and assist with product development and improvements during bulk production.
Able to liaise with Design and Production teams to develop products accurately and efficiently. Excellent Critical Path awareness , with the ability to organise, plan and prioritise workload. As well as good problem-solving skills and the ability to make commercial decisions when required.
Broad understanding of garment testing and British and International Standards, enhanced by attending seminars at STR testing laboratory. Regularly and confidently conduct in-house testing and analyse laboratory test reports based on legal, and customer requirements.
Product Development requires a critical opinion and excellent attention to detail; key skills regularly complemented on.

Smith & Brooks – Junior Garment Technician (Full Time)
Shirebrook, June 2010 –September 2010
Employed as a Junior Garment Technician for Character Licensed Childrenswear. Main responsibilities were Lab dip and Strike-off approval, with keen attention paid to matching Pantone colours by eye. Other duties included measuring and fitting garments and providing feedback to customers and suppliers; amending and creating garment specifications and creating technical drawings.

GEORGE at ASDA - Assistant Merchandiser, Ladies Jersey (Full Time)
Lutterworth, May 2008
4 weeks work experience working in a fast-paced environment, learning many new processes quickly.
Areas of experience also included Buying and Garment Technology.

River Island / Graduate Fashion Week – Visual Merchandising (Competition Winner)
London, March 2010
Winner of the River Island ‘Re-styling’ competition in association with Graduate Fashion Week. Competition involved deconstructing and re-working existing garments to make an exciting new outfit.
Work displayed at Graduate Fashion Week 2010 and carried out a short placement at River Island’s London Head Office in Visual Merchandising.

Leicester, March – April 2008
2 months work experience, roles including designing and implementing a staff training scheme; travelling to stores across the UK to train staff and writing a detailed business proposal allowing the company to become a new concession in Selfridges.

Fabulous Fabric - Store Assistant (Part Time)
Ashby de-la-Zouch, September 2004 – November 2009
Employed in a busy fashion fabric shop - required to help and advise customers, relying on knowledge of fabrics and how to manufacture garments to a high standard. Regularly worked in a small team and alone.

Clothing Alterations – Alteration Specialist (Part Time)
Freelance, June 2006 – November 2009
A freelance Alteration Specialist, doing regular work for private clients – Relying on good communication skills as well as being highly skilled in sewing. Experienced in working to customer specifications and meeting specific needs.

Fantasy & Frills – Designer and Corsetiere (Part Time)
Ashby de-la-Zouch, January - March 2008
10 weeks work experience for a newly launched bespoke corset company. Roles included; designing a range of corsets, pattern drafting, made-to-measure pattern grading and making corsets to promote the business. Also given a brief to identify ways the Managing Director could improve and promote the business; presenting findings in a professional report.
Since been commissioned to make several made to measure corsets for customers.

First Class Honours: BA(Hons) Fashion Studies
Modules focussed on design, pattern cutting, a range of garment making, fashion illustration, CAD, knit, styling and written projects including analytical reports, fashion history and main dissertation.
Also took advantage of a sandwich year placement, gaining almost 18 months experience in Industry.

Foundation Degree: Art and Design
Successful completion. As part of this I studied Fine Art, Photography, Fashion and Illustration.

A Levels: Grade A in Textiles, General Studies and Business Studies, Grade B in Maths and Grade D in Music
GCSEs: 5 A* grades in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Textiles, and R.E. and
6 A grades in, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Music, Drama and German.

EDCL level 2 Fluency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Achieved January 2003
Confident using software and systems including Photoshop, Illustrator, CIMS, Editrack and RetailLink
